
Parliament passes Bill to provide 10% quota for poor
Why it is in news?
- Parliament cleared the Constitutional Amendment Bill guaranteeing 10% quota in education and employment to economically weaker sections in the general category, following an approval by the Rajya Sabha.
Constitutional Amendment Bill
- The Constitution Amendment Bill is provided by the Article 368 of the constitution.
- Such bill can be introduced in either House of Parliament.
- Provisions are as follows for this types of bills:
- A majority of the total membership of that House and also by.
- A majority of not less than two thirds of members present and voting.
- There is no provision for joint sittings for such bills.
- President must give his assent to this bill
