China offered mediation between India and Pakistan
Why is it in news?
- China reiterated that it would continue to play a “constructive role in its own way” to ease tensions between India and Pakistan.

- Utilizing SCO’s counter-terrorism mechanism: The Chinese foreign ministry also backed Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s advocacy of utilising the counter-terrorism mechanism of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) to defuse ongoing military tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad.
- China’s principled position: China said that it encourage the relevant parties in the international community to make all constructive efforts that are conducive to promoting the relaxation of the regional situation and maintaining peace and stability in the region.
- India’s stand: India from past had stand that any communication and tension between India-Pakistan is total bilateral issue between the two. It will not allow any country to interfere in between the two.
