"Additional draft exclusion list" of NRC consist 1.02 lakh people
Why in news
- The office of the Coordinator for the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam has published the list.
More in news
- This list is in addition to the list put up on 30 July2018 which had excluded four million people amongst 3.29 crore applications.
- The New list also contains names of the people previously excluded subsequent to them finding ineligible for three reasons
(1) People who have been declared foreigners,
(2) Doubtful (D) voters
(3) People with cases pending at Foreigners’ Tribunals discovered after publication of the draft NRC
- Names of those people are also included in the additional list who are found ineligible during the process of verification carried out by the local registrars. Additional list was prepared under the provisions contained in
- Clause 5 of the Schedule of The Citizenship (Registration of Citizens and Issue of National Identity Cards) Rules, 2003.
