India asked Pakistan to review decision on ties

Why is it in news?
  • Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that Pakistan should review its decision to downgrade ties and suspend trade with India.

  • Internal matter of India:
    (1) In a statement, the Ministry said Pakistan’s actions were aimed at presenting an “alarmist picture to the world.”
    (2) It said the ending of the special status to Jammu and Kashmir was an internal matter of India, aimed at bringing development opportunities to the people there.
  • Justification to cross-border terrorism:
    (1) Pakistan exploited the lack of development to generate disaffection and “to justify its cross-border terrorism”.
    (2) The Government of India regrets the steps announced by Pakistan and would urge that country to review them so that normal channels of communications are preserved.
