Amit Shah seeks to reassure Kashmiris

  • A delegation from J&K , comprising sarpanches and members of civil society groups meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
More in news
  • The Union Home Minister assured the delegation that
(1) Only government land would be used to establish industries, hospitals and educational institutions.
(2) Communication services, including Internet, would be restored in the Valley in the next 20-25 days
(3) Merit-based recruitmentfor government jobs at the earliest
(4) He reiterated that the statehood would be restored as soon as the situation warranted
  • Since the revocation of the State’s special status the situation remains fluid.
  • Challenges to be addressed by the Govt are
(1) Reviving the total shutdown of markets
(2) Absence of public transport
(3) Suspension of Inter-State train services
