- Details of the new Scheme
(1) Beneficiaries would be able to purchase their quota of wheat from the fair price shops in either states on one ration card.
(2) The scheme would be expanded later to other essential commodities, apart from wheat.
(3) The scheme was put trial in village of Rajasthan’s Alwar and Haryana’s Rewari, where food grains were distributed using Pos(point of sale) machines. The online PDS already operative in Rajasthan made the work even easier for scheme
- Benefits of the initiative:
(1) Facilitate the distribution of foodgrains to the beneficiaries of national food security scheme.
(2) Labourers in the unorganised sector, who migrate from one state to another for work, would benefit from such a scheme.
- Other Details:
(1) Central govt. would implement the scheme later all over the country.
(2) The new system would be made online in all the States after their complete digitisation.
