Why is it in the news?
  • The Andhra Pradesh government is set to launch its flagship 'Rythu Bharosa' scheme.
More about the Scheme
  • Rythu Bharosa is a welfare scheme under which financial assistance will be provided to the farmers of the state.
  • The list of eligible farmers will be prepared and financial assistance will be given to them as per the scheme.
  • The farmers will get financial assistance of Rs 13,500, with the State Government contributing Rs 7,500 and the Centre Rs 6,000.
  • The amount will be deposited in three instalments:
(1) Rs.7,500 will be paid in May to meet kharif expenses.
(2) Rs.4,000 will be given in October for rabi operations.
(3) The last instalment of Rs. 2,000 will be paid during Sankranti.
  • Rythu Bharosa provides every farmer the same support irrespective of land size.
