Produce all orders on J&K curbs, court tells govt.

Why in news?
  • The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to produce the orders passed by authorities on restrictions in Jammu & Kashmir as well as Section 144 proceedings.

  • Abrogation of Article 370 - The restrictions were imposed after the abrogation on August 5 of Article 370 which granted special status to the State.
  • Govt. Hesitates to produce order: defiant queries were raised in the court on the government's perceived hesitation to produce on record the actual orders imposing restrictions on public movement and liberties.
