
Mining of Uranium in Andhra’s Nallamala Forest opposed
Why in news?
- Members of the Revolutionary Writers’ Association (Virasam) and the Patriotic Democratic Movement (PDM) have said that the government should immediately drop the plan to mine uranium in the Nallamala forest area. At a meeting, Virasam executive body member P. Varalakshmi and environmental analyst Tummala Srikumar spoke about the proposed mining of uranium by the Central government.

(3) Agriculture and animal husbandry sectors would also be damaged over a period of time.
