Odisha scheme to merge with ‘PM-Kisan’

Why is it in the news?
  • The Odisha government has decided to merge its flagship scheme KALIA with the Centre's Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) yojana.
  • As per the state minister, the reason for merger is apparently due to financial constraint.

  • Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA):
(1) Farmers, mostly small and marginal cultivators, are entitled to get Rs 10,000 in two instalments for two crops in a year.
(2) The landless agricultural farmers are also eligible to get Rs 12,000 per annum for three years.
