Why is it in the news?
  • The total assets under management (AUM) of the mutual fund (MF) industry crossed a record ₹27 lakh crore in November even as flows dipped substantially compared with the previous month.

  • About Assets under management (AUM):
(1) These are the overall market value of assets/capital that a mutual fund holds.
(2) The fund manager manages these assets and takes investment decisions on behalf of investors.
(3) AUM is an indicator of the size and success of a fund house.
