Did not cut share of States: FM

Why is it in the news?
  • Union Finance Minister said devolution of funds to the States was done as per the recommendations of the Finance Commission.

  • Minister and other Ministry Officials:
(1) The Centre has not reduced the share of States [as] what it has done is implementation of the Finance Commission recommendation.
(2) Finance minister refuted that allocation for the MGNREGA scheme in the Budget had been reduced.
  • To Telangana:
(1) During the next five years (2015-2020), which included the rest of this fiscal, the estimated release to Telangana would be Rs. 1,06,606 crore or an increase of 128%.
(2) Telangana is one of the few States which has been given a higher borrowing limit of 3.5% of SDP instead of 3% which is allowed for most other States.
