- During a Full Moon, when the Moon, the Erath, and the Sun form a straight line + the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon => the lunar eclipse
- Earth blocks Sun Rays to Moon => Shadow on the Moon
- Penumbral lunar eclipse
- Happened when Earth, Sun and Moon – imperfectly aligned => Blocks some of the light with outer part of Shadow
- This outer part of shadow is known as Penumbra
- Penumbra is fainter than core shadow
