- Government decided to spend 10% of BADP on China border projects

- Border Area Development Programme (BADP)
- started in 1980 for western border
- expanded in 16 states and 2 UTs
- 10% of BADP – focus on projects in areas - Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Sikkim.
- Projects include Construction of roads, bridges, culverts, primary schools, health infrastructure, playfields, irrigation works, mini-stadiums, indoor courts for basketball, badminton and table tennis
- Border Guarding Forces will chose the projects
- Acc to guidelines, no private organization or NGO could be hired for infrastructure projects
- Forces deployed
- BSF – along Bangladesh and Pakistan border
- ITBP – China border
- Sahastra Seema Bal – Nepal border
- Assam Rifles – Myanmar border
