Chhattisgarh completes 37% yearly target under MGNREGA in two months
Why it is in news?
- Chhattisgarh has completed 37% yearly target of MGNREGA within two months during the lockdown with timely wage payment.
About MGNREGA
- Implementation Ministry: Ministry of Rural Development.
- Mandate:
(1) To provide at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every rural household whose adult member volunteers to do unskilled manual work.
(2) An additional 50 days of wage employment are provided over and above 100 days in the notified drought affected areas or natural calamity areas in the country on recommendation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
