  • What do the petitioners say
(1) The petition has been filed by a child rights activists who raised substantial issues and alleged detention of children.
(2) Petitioners wanted the court to direct the government to file a status report and order the Juvenile Justice Committee to monitor incidents of detention.
(3) Certain reports specific to children have describe violations of very different kinds, ranging in seriousness from potential loss of life and liberty of the child to being emotionally and intellectually drawn into the conflict.
(4) The areas of concern as put forth by some news paper reports are
(a) Illegal if temporarydetention and in some cases beatingsof young boys by security forces.
(b) Injuries and deaths of children, deliberate or accidental.
  • Previously, SC asked the Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court to file a report in another petition stating it impossible to access the High Court because of the lockdown.
  • CJI stated the report filed on the aissue did not support his statement of CJ of J n K high Court.
