Bangladeshis living illegally in UP to be identified for deportation

Why is it the news?
  • UP Director General of Policeolice have asked district police officers to identify Bangladeshis and other foreign nationals “living illegally” in the State so that they can be deported.
More in the news
  • The move was important from the point of “internal security” in the State, DGP O.P. Singh said in a circular issued to all district police chiefs.
  • The police have been asked to identify locations such as city outskirts, railway stations, bus stations and “new settlements” where “such Bangladeshis and other foreign nationals take shelter” and carry out their verification under videography.
  • Police have also been directed to obtain the fingerprint of Bangladeshis and other foreigners following which a district-wise computerised database would be maintained.
