
Drone cameras threatening Nilgiris Wildlife
Why in news?
- Conservationists are concerned about the use of drone cameras for capturing the exotic wildlife in Nilgiris and rest of the Western Ghats They may be posing threat to the endangered species of birds, especially raptors.

- The raptors or birds which attack the equipments get injured in the process.
- Also when threatened the raptors are known to abandon nesting sites and unfortunately, many species of raptors threatened with extinction nest in rocky outcrops, where amateur photographers most wish to use drones to photograph.
- Use of drones without the permission of the Chief Wildlife Warden is a criminal offence.
