- WHO-administered RECOVERY trial — the largest global clinical trial – reported that dexamethasone has reduced deaths

- dexamethasone reduced deaths by one-third in ventilated patients and by one-fifth in other patients receiving oxygen only.
- Dexamethasone is steroid and cheapy available
- Same Recovery trial earlier reported that hydroxychloroquine is not beneficial for treatment of covid-19
- Tocilizumab – injectable - also being tested in RECOVERY trail.
- Dexamethasone and tocilizumab are not anti-viral. But it is used to improve immune system when there is viral infection.
- Recently ICMR had allowed the use of remdesivir, tocilizumab and convalescent plasma therapy (CPT) to treat certain patients.
