Why in news
- A committee recommended to National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) for installing spikes on Electric polesto discourage elephants from uprooting them and getting electrocuted.

(1) A nationwide strategy for long-term planning of electricity grid networks.
(2) Planning to include state-of-the-art wildlife protection equipment.
(3) Burring transmission lineswhere ever possible.
(4) Heights of the transmission lines are to be further elevated.
(5) Poles in forests and wildlife sanctuaries will be specifically installed with such spikes.
(6) Immediate fixing of sagging transmission lines and cables in protected areas.
