Panel for jail reforms across India

The Supreme Court set up a three-member committee headed by its former judge Justice Amitava Roy to suggest and look after jail reforms across the country.

Parakram Parv

The Indian Armed Forces will observe ‘Parakram Parv’ from September 28 – 30 to mark the second anniversary of the surgical strikes against terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC) and to “showcase the courage, valour and sacrifice of Armed Forces”.

Female circumcision issue goes to Constitution Bench

The Supreme Court referred to a five-judge Constitution Bench petitions seeking a declaration that the practice of female circumcision or ‘khafz,’ prevalent in the Dawoodi Bohra sect, amounts to “female genital mutilation (FGM)” and is a violation of women’s right to life and dignity.
