(1) A preventive healthcare measure to trigger social and behavioural change
(2) This change is to brought through a mix of regulatory measures, combined with soft interventions for ensuring awareness and capacity building of food businesses and citizens alike.
  • Aligned with plans – This movement is aligned with other public health programmes such as
(1) POSHAN Abhiyaan,
(2) Anemia Mukt Bharat,
(3) Ayushman Bharat Yojana
(4) Swachh Bharat Mission.
  • Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has set up a regulatory framework based on three pillarsEat Safe, Eat Health and Eat Sustainablyfor the programme.
  • FSSAI has prescribed a limit for Total Polar Compounds (TPC) at 25% in cooking oil to avoid the harmful effects of reused cooking oil.
